Most of the time during CM Punk's WWE title reign he has been phased out of the main event matches, he has been excluded from the major storylines.
Over a year ago he cut a groundbreaking promo that spoke some sense to the WWE universe, suddenly more and more fans began to turn on wrestlers like John Cena.
Punk made it clear he had no personal hatred toward John Cena, he said at many times he respected him for showing up each and every night trying to put on the best match he can.
He was right when he said wrestling has come down to these bodybuilder types who simply do not have the tools he has.
CM Punk was involved in one of the more entertaining feuds in the WWE, he brought back a lot of the vibe we had during the Austin Vs McMahon ERA.
We watched him battle it out with former GM of Monday Night Raw and Friday Night SmackDown John Laurinaitis {Johnny Ace brother of WWE legend Road Warrior Animal}.
Many times Punk said things about John Laurinaitis career, he said many times that he only wished he could reach the heights of being the WWE champion.
Once fans really got into this story, out of nowhere it was turned away to being John Cena Vs John Laurinaitis.
I noticed from that point on a lot of the attention seemed to be drifted away from the WWE championship, for months it seemed like the WWE was once again revolving around John Cena.
Matches that consisted of Daniel Bryan Vs CM Punk for the WWE Championship were presented before Divas matches, Monday Night Raw consistently ended with John Cena.
As a champion being phased out CM Punk did everything he could to try and stay on top, the only problem was he was beginning to get stale up until now.
As it came time for the 1000th episode of Monday Night Raw as I expected the attention centered around the Rock and John Cena.
First the Rock came out to interrupt WWE champion CM Punk and Daniel Bryan, the Rock started right in with his corny high school jokes on Daniel Bryan's height.
The Rock never seems to change anything about his character, part of being the best is knowing how to adapt to the times.
Times change and very few people get that, CM Punk remains the best because he gets that and not many can do what he does.
The Rock wasted no time after that to look at CM Punk to talk about the WWE title, he wasted no time acting as if he owns the company.
He said that the WWE granted him a shot at the WWE title at the next Royal Rumble. CM Punk responded by pretty much saying he was looking forward to it.
The main event of the 1000th episode of Monday Night Raw as we all know was CM Punk defending the WWE title against John Cena.
John Cena who decided to cash in the Money In The Bank briefcase, was made to look indestructible.
The whole match seemed to be designed to set up a future match between the Rock Vs John Cena, suddenly the Big Show comes in to causing a disqualification.
CM Punk just stood there as the Big Show demolished John Cena, to the rescue came the Rock, everything was shifted into the Rock stealing the show.
CM Punk walked out of the ring looked on as confused as anyone, the Rock began to start the people's elbow, Punk rushed the ring to lay him out with a closeline.
The 1000th show ended with Punk standing over the Rock with the crowd booing, and commentator Jerry "The King" Lawyer saying CM Punk turned his back on the WWE universe.
Last Monday Night Raw we were are looking to see what direction Punk's character was going to go in, we were are in anticipation to hear why he attacked the Rock.
When CM Punk came out he had a mixed reaction, I think it was a combination of Cena and Rock fans in anger about how the previous show ended.
Punk eventually made his way over to the commentary table to address his comments to Jerry Lawyer, he sat down on the table holding up his title.
He would then grab the mic and begin to drop another pipebomb, everything he would go on to say was the absolute truth.
He said what really got to him was the lack of respect the Rock showed during the 1000th show. Punk was angry that the Rock felt as though he could just come in and take his title without actually earning a title shot.
He told Jerry Lawyer he didn't turn his back on the WWE universe in his own words, he hated the fact the Rock wanted the show to be all about him.
Punk said he wants the attention to be put back on the WWE championship, if you think about it there really is no way to disagree with anything he said.
The main event of the show was another boring match between John Cena Vs The Big Show. The winner would earn a shot at the WWE title against CM Punk at Summerslam.
What made me watch the match was the fact that CM Punk was doing commentary with Jerry Lawyer and Michael Cole.
During the match CM Punk would go back and fourth with Jerry Lawyer, to be honest I feel like those two have really good chemistry working together.
The match would take an odd turn as the Big Show on the outside of the ring launched John Cena into CM Punk who was sitting at the commentary table.
Big Show would run back into the ring as the ref started the 10 count, it appeared that the Big Show had outsmarted John Cena.
Cena would find a way to get back in the ring before the count of 10, John would somehow find the strength to once again pick up the Big Show to attempt the Attitude Adjustment.
CM Punk stormed the ring to break it up and caused the match to be thrown out, he would then kick Big Show in the head knocking him out.
He would then leave the ring to bring back the mic and his WWE title, Punk then went on to say the winner of the match was nobody, he said there both losers and left the ring.
This would be all to set up a triple threat match for the WWE title at this upcoming Summerslam.
Whatever happens I'm very pleased with how CM Punk has gone back to a lot of what his character was when he cut one of the greatest promos ever.
In my opinion he is at his best once again, his matches are always great but his mic skills are back to where they once were.
He now holds the cards as being the best in the business, hopefully the WWE will see it and keep him as the top guy in the company.
Nobody can take away the fact that at least for the last 2 shows CM Punk has taken back Monday Night Raw.
