I didn't watch a lot of the game from what I did see #10 Marian Gaborik was tree hugged every time he touched the puck.
I watched a play where #16 Sean Avery was involved in a confrontation and was punched bringing a 3rd man in for Detroit as they were trying a gang beating.
Nonetheless no call on the play I watched another play where Sean Avery tapped a player with his stick sending Wings #8 Justin Abdelkader to falling to the ice for a two minute hooking call.
If you watch the play you give me a reason how that could have possibly caused J. Abdelkader to fall down.
Another negative to the Rangers in recent weeks is their inability to stay consistent in crashing the net.
There is not many times you are going to win a game in the NHL if you score only one goal.
#30 Henrik Lundqvist has done everything he can to keep the opposing offenses at bay, but its time that New York steps it up, and starts putting the puck in the net.
Looking at Sean Avery's play over the last ten games I am really impressed, and I would definitely have him on the first line with M. Gaborik, and #20 Valec Prospal.
The blueshirts did get one goal they got it early which has been the common tale many times this year they start out the game like a team on a mission then they die out as the game nears the end.
Too many times this year Henrik Lundqvist has dominated 2 and a half periods of a game, but finding a way to let in a soft goal late in the 3rd period.
As good as Henrik is he has to get tough when the game is on the line, and take it into his own hands.
He has carried them, but if he is going to be the guy that this team gathers behind then he needs to know when to bear down, and be impossible to beat.
If you look back to the end of the playoff series last season where the Rangers lost to the Capitals in game seven Henrik let in a really soft goal with minutes left.
You could make the argument that they wouldn't have made it that far in that series, but in the end superstars have to put their teams on their back when it counts the most.
The other way to solve that problem is to start scoring more the team has only scored 4 goals in the last 9 periods, that is simply not going to cut it.
The New York Rangers will have two days off but on Wednesday night will be playing in Chicago as they will battle the Blackhawks at 8:30 pm eastern time.
To give Ranger fans a heads up look out for the Blackhawks #88 Patrick Kane at this point in time the 21 year old has 27 points in 28 games with 9 goals.
He will have very much support from the blue line with defensemen #2 Duncan Keith, who has had himself a good year also with 23 points in 28 games.
That is a dangerous combination for the power play as New York seems to always get pressured with controversial calls.
The superstar of the team is #81 Marian Hossa brother of former Ranger Marcel Hossa was a terrific signing for Chicago during the off season.
After missing the start of the season with an injury he has 6 points in his first 6 games with 3 goals.
The key will be driving to the net stay on the fore check and force the turnovers.
