Rangers Beat The Flyers 2-1 In Another Tough Game

Rangers goalie #30 Henrik "The King" Lundqvist put together another beautiful performance in net stopping 36 of 37 shots to earn the 156th win of his career.

The captain #23 Chris Drury gave the blueshirts the early lead with his 4th goal of the season.

Chris has really struggled its good to see him have some success you have to be happy when good things happen for him.

After Philly tied the game toward the end of the first period the Rangers got a nice jump start in the 2nd with #42 Artem Anisimov's 7th goal of the year, #24 Ryan Callahan collected the assist on the play.

The goal turned out to be the game winner as it was enough to allow New York to move past Philadelphia.

The New York Rangers were killed with penalties during the early part of the game it was really tough to keep the momentum going after last Thursday's 5-2 win over the New York Islanders.

When #81 Enver Lisin got a 2 minute boarding call on Flyers #20 Chris Pronger after the whistle Philadelphia should have gotten a penalty after the play when they had 2 players jumping on one guy.

If you are going to call everything on New York then you have to be fair and catch everything the opposing team does also.

What I really want to know in the end is how many calls go in New York's favor during the 3rd period in a one goal game.

I cannot tell you how many times I have seen the Rangers have a player get clipped with a stick or knocked down 20 feet away from the puck with no penalty being called.

New York would carry on a 2-1 lead with some strong play in the offensive zone as they began to put together some shots on goal.

They played an excellent game and came up big on the penalty killing unit killing 4 out of 5 Flyer powerplays, then again that is what they have to do in order to win considering the one sided officiating.

Maybe there is still some Hockey fans who are out there saying that the game is too violent in my opinion those people can simply watch another sport.

I'm not going to sit here and say that these guys who are getting paid to play should take it easy on each other.

In my mind you have to have that edge in sports if you don't you lack the mental toughness in key situations to get the job done.

If Pittsburgh's Sidney Crosby was a marsh mellow he would be destroyed, he wouldn't last.

You have to encourage the toughness of the game because once that is gone you just have a bunch of guys shooting on a net basically.

Anyway it seems the NHL referees really don't have a care in the world for how obvious it is they will screw the blueshirts whenever the opportunity is given.

You just have to deal with it as a fan suck it up and just hope that talent will take over.

There has to be someone in the organization willing to speak the truth as for Sam Rosen I hope his cold last a few more days it has been great not to have to listen to him lately.

Tomorrow night the Rangers will be in Carolina as they take on the Hurricanes at 7:00 pm eastern time.

This should be a good chance for New York to continue to try out different line cominations to improve their team as they have really tough teams to beat in the future.

Carolina is not having a good year they are 9-20 with 24 points while the blueshirts are 16-16 with 35 points.

The Rangers seems to have problems putting the puck in the net again against the Flyers although they won you have to be concerned with the lack of scoring.

Before their 5-2 win last Thursday night it had taken them 3 straight games combined to reach 5 goals which is not good.

You have to be able to put up 3 or 4 goals a night with 2 being your lowest if you are going to make it as a great team.

It can be said over and over again but New York knows what they have to do and tomorrow will be the perfect time to gel together, and have a night on the scoring sheets.

Carolina has a very young goalie in #30 Cam Ward who is at the age of 25 he is 4-11-4 this season with a 3.12 goals against average.

The goals against average could definitely be improved, Cam is just too good to put up terrible numbers like that.

You have a 36 year old backup with #34 Manny Legace here is a time to give him some playing time see if he can earn some wins until C. Ward gets back on his game.

M. Legace has an excellent career record with 181 wins losing 97 for a 2.40 goals against average, this is a goalie who has a career high of 37 wins in a season.

The season he won 37 games was in 2005-06 when he was a member of the Detroit Red Wings he was 37-8 with a 2.19 goals against average.

Manny is a guy who knows what it takes to win and has been around the NHL for a long time.

When you think about it its surprising Carolina is not a better team with the fact both of their goal tenders could be starters for other teams meanwhile the Hurricanes remain in last place.

Expect to see Cam Ward in between the pipes for Carolina tomorrow night, he is coming off a 3-2 win where he stopped 28 out of 30 shots.

If Manny Legace ends up in net you have to be prepared also Carolina is a team desperately looking to pile on some wins.

As much as New York is the better team they have to show it, just because this looks to be an easy win doesn't mean anything they will have to make their own luck when the puck drops.

If you face Cam Ward you have a guy coming off a solid game he wants to have a shutout more than anything, so it is important to pound him with shots all game long.

#16 Sean Avery will have to be in his face, and the Rangers will need to find #10 Marian Gaborik in the slot so he can find the net like he has all year.
