Yankees Acquire CF Curtis Ganderson

Curtis Granderson became a New York Yankee after a three way trade between the Arizona Diamondbacks and the Detroit Tigers.

The Yankees sent reliever Phil Coke along with prospect Austin Jackson to the Tigers while their young pitcher Ian Kennedy went to the Diamondbacks.

It was a great trade for all sides if you think about it the three players the Yankees let go will see more playing time at the big league level.

New York had so much pitching that I. Kennedy needed a place to show off his talents, because he has struggled for a while under the pressures of the organization.

On the Yankees side of the table you have to be impressed by another good decision from the General Manager Brian Cashman who has been a vital part of the Bronx Bomber's success.

Last season Curtis Granderson hit .249 with 30 home runs and 71 RBI it was a solid season while he managed to swipe 20 bases.

There is so much that he is gonna bring to the defending World Champions as they look to be even more dangerous for 2010.

Now you are looking at a consistent starter for center field it is not a knock on Melky Cabrera or Brett Gardner they just are not everyday players.

C. Granderson is an a definite upgrade on the field for what the team had last year, and that is saying a lot considering the Yankees won it all last season.

It should be interesting to see how the other outfield spots will be filled as the off season transactions are starting to heat up.
