The blueshirts came on strong as the period grew on but gave up an early goal to go into the 2nd period trailing by one.
Toward the end of the first period the Rangers #16 was called for another ridiculous goalie interference penalty.
When the goalie comes out of the blue and gets into the way of an opposing player it has to be fair game to treat them like anyone else.
Sean Avery looked to his left and by the time he looked up the Islanders goalie #30 Dwayne Roloson blocked off his path causing a collision.
On the play D. Roloson if anything interfered with S. Avery because there was no reason for him to come out like that when the puck was behind his net.
If you closely watch the clips of the play you will see that Dwayne actually appeared to have purposely gotten in front of Sean, and it was just a stupid call.
How can you crash the net when you are never allowed to play your game?
The blueshirts looked dead until the 3rd period when they tied the game with two straight goals from #17 Brandon Dubinsky who has played outstanding since his return to the lineup.
Rangers goalie #30 Henrik "The King" Lundqvist gave up a really soft goal in overtime which was a time he needed to get tough because they were so close to getting to the shootout.
Henrik is great one of the best but he has to bear down there that is a time when an elite goal tender needs to play at his highest level.
It can be said every game but jesus what is with the referees? Do they hate Sean Avery and the Rangers that much that they are going to consistently screw them over.
When you see the Rangers on the power play why is it they never call anything on the opposition? I'll tell you why because they know if they gave the blueshirts the two man advantage late in the 3rd that this game wouldn't have made it to overtime.
They had so much momentum rolling after tying the game but it always seems to be the same deal where they have to beat the players and officials.
I'll keep saying it because every game I see they seem to miss 3 or 4 potential power plays at least for the Rangers, if it were the same for both teams I'd understand, but it is obvious that they are one sided when anyone takes on the NYR.
For anyone who don't believe me that's fine because I know what I see, and I am sick of watching Hockey games come down to blown calls or calls that should have been made there is no excuse for it.
Anyway it was a terrific comeback for the Rangers who started the 3rd period trailing by two goals, at least at the end of the night they earned a point in the standings.
The New York Rangers will have a big game on Wednesday night when they will take on the Philadelphia Flyers at Madison Square Garden for a 7:00 pm eastern time start.
This is a good team another big test for the blueshirts who haven't lost a game in regulation time since the last time they played the Islanders on December 16th.
They need to come out with more of a fire in the beginning of the game instead of spending the last fifteen minutes of every game struggling to tie it up instead of coasting to an easy win.
