Boston Red Sox drop Smoltz

The Boston Red Sox have released John Smoltz who went 2-8 with an 8.32 era in 8 starts this year was anything but what people expect out of him. Smoltz last game as a Red Sox he was smashed by the New York Yankees which to me doesn't say much because they have been the best team since the all-star break.

Smoltz is left wondering if who he will pitch for if he will pitch again. You have to think someone will pick him up but in this stage of his career it’s hard to really know.

Smoltz 212 game winner in his career will look for an answer in the time being and rely on his name to earn him another chance. If this is it for Smoltz what a career he has had 212-152 with 154 saves is a brilliant career.

Take into account the man could possibly have 300 wins by now if he were not a team player converting to Atlanta's closer for a while.

As a Yankee fan I would think you could get Smoltz for basically nothing right now to me that is worth it. If Smoltz came back into Boston as a Yankee I have a feeling he would show a lot of the old John Smoltz and regain his stuff.

Let’s wait and see as it should be interesting to see which team takes the gamble on Smoltz.
