Red Sox Fall To Yanks In Slugfest 20-11

Godzilla Hideki Matsui is swinging his way back into winning games. Matsui was 2 for 6 with 7 RBI and 2 huge home runs helping the Yankees crush the Sox.

Matsui has been back to his old ways slugging opposing pitching to a .302 average with 19 home runs and 19 RBI in the month of August.

The entire Yankee lineup was a presence producing 20 runs on 23 hits smashing 6 doubles and 2 homers on the bat of Matsui.

Alex Rodriguez went 4 for 4 driving in one run batted in picking up his first triple of the season. Fenway Park softening the loud boos of his favorite Red Sox fans.

Eric Hinske has been stroking the ball since arriving to the Bronx as he continued his hot streak going 2 for 4 with an RBI last night.

Jorge Posada played a great game all around going 2 for 5 with 2 RBI. Jorge's shoulder looked to not be a problem as Posada had Jacoby Ellsbury nailed earlier in the game at second base but the contact of Jacoby's slide caused the ball to pop out of the glove of Robinson Cano.

Posada was working well with the pitching staff last night I don't understand why he cannot catch like that every game.

Melky Cabrera as usual came through against the Red Sox 4 for 6 last night with 2 RBI. The Melk man is now hitting .273 on the year giving the Yankees consistency out in center field.

When Brett Gardner returns it should be fun to watch him and Melky hold down the outfield giving the Yankees speed.

Mark Teixeria is now hitting .286 after another impressive performance as he was 3 for 5 on the night with 3 RBI. Tex has shut up earlier criticism from Red Sox Owner responding to an 8 game losing streak to the Red Sox by winning the last 5.

Brian Bruney was horrible for the Yankees in relief as he was unable to throw strikes up by a large amount of runs. You could live with Andy Pettitte and Mitre struggling because they were throwing strikes.

When you have a pitcher not able to hit the side of a barn in a game like that there is absolutely no excuse for it.

Pettitte struggled but was great when the Yankees needed him to be the long waiting in between innings stiffened him up as he lost his command in the later innings.

Andy still picked up his 10th win bringing his season record to 10-6 with a 4.25 ERA. The ERA was damaged last night but Pettitte has been solid all year.

Sergio Mitre had problems but you have to respect the fact that he hung in there and threw strikes. Mitre has to work on his command and leaving the ball up to big hitters.

If Mitre can learn to place his mid 90's fastball better he can find a way to being a solid pitcher. Mitre will most likely never be a dominant pitcher but he has the talent to be a name in the game.

Jim Rice was out of line with what he said about Derek Jeter playing for the money and accolades.

Jeter has taken his position as the Yankee captain with pride and has placed himself into the hearts of baseball fans around the world.

Just release the names on the steroid list to clear this man because it is disgusting that Rice or anyone else would tell children not to look up to a player like Derek Jeter.

What makes Jeter who he is today is the fact that he can ignore the idiotic comments and do his talking on the ball field.

Derek doesn't get caught up in the comments outside of the game he makes his point without having to come out and fire back personal insults.

Derek Jeter is a true role model to anyone. Derek had a great game last night as he put on another hitting display.

Derek was 3 for 6 with 2 RBI and 3 runs scored picking up his 22nd double of the year. Jeter has a .333 batting average heading into today.

The Yankees look to take on the Boston Red Sox again today at 4:05 pm eastern time sending A.J. Burnett to the mound Vs Junichi Tazawa.

Burnett is 10-6 on the year as he made it look easy in his last start against Boston at Yankee Stadium. That game was a pitching duel as Burnett went against Beckett allowing one hit pitching 7 2\3 innings. Although Burnett had a no decision he was lights out.

That game ended up in a 2 run walk off home run by Alex Rodriguez in the bottom of the 15th inning. The ironic thing is the pitcher making his start for Boston today is the same pitcher who gave up that walk off homer ending his debut with a crushing defeat.

Tawawa comes into today 1-2 with a 5.40 ERA as he looks to redeem himself in Boston.

The New York Yankees have a commanding lead on the Boston Red Sox with a 7 and a half game lead in the American League East.

The Red Sox are ahead by one game over the Texas Rangers in the American League Wild Card but have an uphill battle today as they face the Bronx Bombers.
