Bret "The Hit Man" Hart The Excellence Of Execution

One of the most famous Canadians to be born out of Canada Bret Hart has slipped away from the ring for many years as a wrestler. To be honest when you look back at the "Hit Man’s career you get mixtures of emotions as you watched terrible events occur in Harts life. Bret is 7 time worlds champion both the WWE and the WCW.

He has had to overcome the odds more than anything he had been wrestling in the WWE for over 14 years. Vince McMahon the creator of the WWE was in a financial situation where he needed to ask Bret to drop the contract. Bret was asked to go to at the time Ted Turners WCW over in Atlanta Georgia. Bret came to a difficult decision but did what he felt was the right thing for his long time friend and boss Vince McMahon.

Turn back the clock before that during the year 1996 a year prior to Bret going to WCW for McMahon Bret could have accepted a deal where he would have been making bundles of money but once again you see a man who has pride. He chose to stay loyal to the company that made him what he was. Bret took a 20 year deal with the WWE assuring them that he was committed to finishing his career as a wrestler there.

That fight ended up with Bret causing Austin to pass out in his finishing move the sharpshooter. After the bell rang Bret grabbed Austin’s leg and began to kick him until special guest referee WWE and UFC great Ken Shamrock grabbed him and threw him off causing the crowd to turn on Hart. The Heel turn was officially complete.

The following night Bret came out to do something he did not want to do he had to act like he hated the United States of America. Bret did this gimmick for Vince McMahon as Vince wanted to push Steve Austin as the new baby face as the idea of good guy vs. bad guy was over.

Bret never really found a way to fit in with the new direction the WWE was headed in he did not like the racism or sex in front of children. The night after the heel turn began Bret brought out his brother Owen Hart and the British Bulldog Davey Smith to align with them to reform the Hart Foundation and their stance against America.

Bret played his role as much as not wanting to do it he managed to do a great job. Bret would soon have knee surgery putting him on the disabled list for a while but during that time he never missed a show. He came out putting on good interviews building up other wrestlers and feuds. He would later return to the ring but things started to change as Degeneration X was formed with Triple H Shawn Michaels and Chyna. DX was the new big group as the Hart Foundation lost its heat.

Vince would eventually ask Bret out of the 20 year contract he begged him to sign a year earlier. Bret did the right thing for Vince he made the move to WCW as he would end his 14 years in the WWE. McMahon somehow leaked it out that Bret was leaving for the money which brought down a tremendous amount of sellout chants if people only knew what was really going on at the time.

Bret spoke out about his dislike toward the new direction of wrestling into sex and racism. Hart made it clear that his children would not even watch the show anymore that put him in a position he never wanted to be wrestling on a show that sends out that sort of message.

Bret's final night in the WWE came when he defended the WWE World Heavyweight Championship against Shawn Michaels at the 1997 survivor series in Montreal Canada. Vince tried to convince Bret days prior that he had to lose to HBK Shawn Michaels but Bret worked out an agreement where the match would end up in a double disqualification. Bret wanted to forfeit the title on Raw the next night or even lose he said he would not drop the match in Canada.

Bret would go on to fight Shawn Michaels as Vince McMahon suspiciously stood by ringside the whole match. The match was carried by Hart who wrestled with a broken right hand and showed why he is the best technical wrestler on the globe. The end was near when Shawn Michaels eye raked Hart caused him to drop to the mat HBK would center the ring to put Bret's own submission move on him the sharpshooter.

Bret reached around to grab Shawn’s leg to reverse the move so that both wrestlers groups would come out to the ring resulting in a double disqualification. Vince McMahon yelled to the referee that night Earl Hebner to ring the bell which ended up shocking Hart as he was still trying to figure out what had just happened. Earl Hebner ran out of the ring like the weasel that he is and Bret spit into the face of Vince McMahon as Shawn Michaels left the ring with Triple H taking the WWE title with him.

It was the end for Bret Hart in the WWE. Hart went crazy breaking monitors showing his emotions for what McMahon did to him. After that he went to the locker room later on there was an altercation and Bret knocked out Vince McMahon with a punch. This all meant the end for the "Hit Man" in the WWE.

Bret took his legacy over to WCW and throughout his time there you can see he was not the same man. His wrestling ability and interviews were still there but you would see him leaving from a match and the look on his face just said it all. Bret suffered a groin injury causing him to miss some time as he was set up to make a big comeback to fight Kevin Nash on the Jay Leno show.

Tragedy would soon strike the Hart family on May 23rd 1999 in Kansas City. Owen Hart who was supposed to come down from the rafters for a grand entrance the harness was accidentally snapped causing him to fall to his death. Bret would understandably need more time off from the ring.

Bret came back reforming the new NWO with Kevin Nash Scott Hall Jeff Jarret and Scott Steiner. Bret suffered a career ending injury against Bill Goldberg when Bill accidentally kicked him in the head but Bret still finished the match defeating Bill Goldberg to retain the WCW Heavyweight title. Bret knew something was wrong and eventually he was finished with professional wrestling.

2006 Bret "The Hit Man" Hart was inducted into the WWE Hall of Fame as Bret and Vince found out a way to be nice to each other remembering the history. Stone Cold Steve Austin gave the speech to induct Hart as he showed respect for one of the men who helped build Austin into what he became.

Bret has lost many family members and friends to death; Hart suffered from a stroke but since has been keeping himself healthy as he does many things with his life to this day. Bret Hart has become a writer and draws cartoons along with acting on television to keep him busy. Hart is now married to a new woman. Hart will always be remembered for what he did for professional wrestling and will go down as one of the best wrestlers to ever step in the ring.
