Yanks Drop Game 5 To The Halos

A.J. Burnett showed a lot of heart after allowing 4 runs in the 1st inning.

A.J. persevered keeping New York in the game with quality innings.

He worked 6 innings allowing 6 runs on 8 hits as he left the team in trouble during the 7th.

After being dominated by Angels starter John Lackey the Yankee offense opened up by a terrible call.

Catcher Jorge Posada drew a base on balls to bring runners at first and second with one out.

The home plate umpire definitely blew this call but lets be honest there has been many times that this has gone against New York.

Not every call is going to be perfect, this is not the NFL where we call roughing, offsides, or pass interference, what do you want them to replay everything?

J. Lackey would loose concentration as he lost sight of the strike zone walking Derek Jeter to load the bases.

The Los Angeles stupidly replaced John Lackey who had handled the Yankee lineup with ease all night.

J. Lackey's line through the game would result in 6.2 innings allowing 3 earned runs on 6 hits striking out 7,

Darren Oliver would come in to get LF Johnny Damon to fly out to shallow left unable to push a run across.

Former Angel Mark Teixeira would arrive to the plate to rocket a 3 run double to center field to pull within one.

M. Teixeira has been cold, but seems to be warming up in LA.

New York needs him to be at his best to bring home a championship thats for sure.

3B Alex Rodriguez after blasting a double off of the right center field wall his previous at bat would be intentionally walked to bring up DH Hideki Matsui.

H. Matsui tied the game on a line drive base hit up the middle breaking his bat to break open the game.

Hideki has been clutch in all of his years in New York with how he has performed as the everyday DH you have to hope that he will resign with the team.

Kevin Jepsen would come in the game to keep the game at 4-4 but failed to do so when R. Cano roped a 2 run triple to the right center field gap to take a 2 run lead.

Phil Hughes would lose the lead as the Angels regained the lead by scoring 3 runs to leave the game at 7-6.

Yankees Joba Chamberlain would come in for the bottom half of the 8th to keep the Angels to a one run lead after allowing a lead off double to Juan Rivera.

Joba would strike out the red hot Jeff Mathis but would allow an infield hit on the upcoming play to Eric Aybar as runners stood at the corners with one out.

The Man Mariano Rivera would enter the game to stop the bleeding as the Yankees prepared for another heroic comeback.

The Halos aggressively had Eric Aybar take second base to move 2 runners in scoring position.

The Yankees got a break as a line out to RF Nick Swisher would hold the runner at third to give M. Rivera a chance to get out of the inning without any runs.

Mariano is just the best at what he does getting Bobby Abreu to fly out to center to end the threat.

Brian Fuentes had to walk Alex Rodriguez after getting two quick outs to put the tying run on base.

The move would almost come back to haunt them as B. Fuentes loaded the bases walking H. Matsui, and hitting Robinson Cano.

With 2 outs Nick Swisher would work the count as him, and Brian Fuentes looked nervous.

Both of them were choking away the game, but Nick Swisher would end the game with a fly out to drop game 5 to the Angels.

The Series will go back to the Bronx as they will play on Saturday at Yankee Stadium for game 6 as the Yankees lead 3 games to 2.
