The Yankees have a lot depending on the performance of their 3B Alex Rodriguez who has carried the team on his back this post season with 14 hits in 32 at bats putting out 5 home runs while driving in 12 runs. This picture belongs to ESPN.com
A. Rodriguez will carry a .438 batting average into the world Series after crushing some of the biggest home runs in playoff history.
Alex now has the record for most consecutive games in the playoffs with an RBI.
Hitting in front of Arod is the 1B Mark Teixeira who is starting to turn it up in late October.
Mark turned it around in the final two games of the ALCS going 4 for 9 in with 4 runs batted in.
Tex will be dangerous in the World Series especially with the pitches he will see due to the hot streak of Alex Rodriguez.
Another play breaking out the bat in recent games has been the LF Johnny Damon who provided some offense out of the #2 slot.
After going 1 for 12 in the ALDS with 4 strikeouts and no runs driven in J. Damon had himself a solid ALCS going 9 for 30 with 2 home runs and 5 RBI for a .300 batting average.
Johnny got a big hit in last night's clinching game with a 2 run single that crushed the Angels hopes of making it to game 7.
J. Damon is that type of hitter he will make a difference in the later stages of a Series.
The captain SS Derek Jeter has been sick as of late so he was unable to play at his best toward the end of the ALCS.
Derek ended up hitting .259 in the Series with 2 HR, 3 RBI, but still has had a good overall post season putting up a .297 average clubbing 5 long balls driving in 9 Yankee runners.
D. Jeter is playing in the 7th World Series of his career, and has four rings in his days as a Yankee looking for more.
The Yankees catcher Jorge Posada had a rough end to the American League Championship Series going 4 for 20 with 5 strikeouts leaving 10 runners on base in game 6.
Still you cannot overlook the veteran slugger who can hit the long ball at any point in the game.
Jorge has diminished skills behind the plate, but sometimes can make up for it with his bat.
The World Series will begin on Wednesday as the Philadelphia Phillies will arrive to the Bronx for game one with Cliff Lee taking on the New York Yankees CC Sabathia.
This is shaping up to be a pitchers duel, but both teams combine for a lot of power which could put up a lot of runs throughout the Series.
