King Henrik Still Owns Marty Brodeur

Henrik Lundqvist celebrates after he helped the New York Rangers beat the New Jersey Devils 3-2 in another war between the two rivals.

King Henrik made 25 saves on 27 shots to improve his record to 2-1 to start the season.

Henrik was fantastic which has been his routine against the Devils for many seasons now.

If you look back the time they were swept by New Jersey in the playoffs during Henrik's rookie season.

H. Lundqvist had to watch former Ranger and Devil's goaltender Kevin Weekes give away the series, as he had to sit out with an injury.

Supporting Henrik in New York's defensive zone has not been a problem for the Rangers especially late in the game as two defensemen have gained notification as stars in the league.

Starting with Michael Del Zotto who scored his 2nd goal of the season on the power play to knot the game up at 1-1 after New Jersey had taken a quick lead.

Michael has come out of nowhere, and looks to be the real deal.

Then on the other side of him you have 25 year old Matt Gilroy who comes in after being voted the best college Hockey player in the world.

Matt gained confidence after each and every shift which gave him the power to give New York the go ahead goal that would win the game for the blueshirts.

M. Gilroy kept his shot nice and low, as he blasted the puck through the legs of Martin Brodeur.

The goal was the first of Matt Gilroy's career, and it will definitely not be the last. M. Gilroy just has to know when he could pinch in the offensive zone, as he has given up a few odd man breaks.

It doesn't mean a thing about how fast you are if you continue to put yourself in vulnerable positions with the opposing offense.

The officiating in the game was completely terrible, and it is getting to a boiling point as the Rangers looked to be getting fed up.

It has been obvious that the game's front office, and referees favor Devils net minder Martin Brodeur.

Whenever a player even breathes on Marty it is a penalty, and there never seems to be any other outcome.

If someone was going to cheap shot the goalie they wouldn't fall into him backwards like that.

You could clearly see he was bumped from an opposing player so why is that his fault?

It is messed up that Marty gets that much special treatment. The man is so good he doesn't need any help.

I guess the officials decided not to see this as they were one sided once again.

The closer the game got to the end the more the Referees wanted to look the other way unless a Devil was pulled down.

This is the new strategy of the officials if you are going to reward the Rangers with a power play it must be an obvious penalty.

It doesn't feel so good when the cheap shots come back full force as Captain Chris Drury shows Devils Paul Martin where to go.

It was retaliation for Rod Pelley's cheap shot on New York's #6 Wade Redden.

Although the 37 year old goaltender M. Brodeur is slowly declining he still has the goods in net.

Marty kept his team in the game with some incredible saves when the clock was winding down. He gave New Jersey an opportunity to win the game.

It was great to see two elite goaltenders do battle in front of the whole Hockey world showing what they can do.

Henrik would upstage Marty Brodeur to add onto his domination over him, and the New Jersey Devils.

After tonight New York knows they are not even close to finished with the Devils, but right now need to shift their focus over to their upcoming game.

New York is riding high after their 2nd win in 3 games as they will seek revenge on the Washington Capitals on Thursday who defeated them in the playoffs last season.

King Henrik will have to solve the amazing ability of Caps Alex Ovechkin who has 5 goals with 9 points in his first three games of this season.

With the new defense unit the Rangers hope to stop Washington's aggressive attack in their zone.

Chris Drury will have to step up eventually as he has not earned his paycheck at all during his time in New York.

The man needs to either do something or get out of Manhattan because I am tired of watching him do nothing.

I know he scored the first game, but he has no scoring touch, and doesn't handle the puck very well for a so called elite player.

If not we all know Marian Gaborik can carry the team if he has to considering he already looks to be comfortable on his new team.

Thursday should be another game that comes down who can get the big goal, as both teams enter with a lot confidence in their scoring game.
