CC's Hopes For #20 Crushed In Yanks Loss To Rays

CC Sabathia had his worst outing of the season pitching 2 2\3 innings allowing 9 runs 5 of them earned while giving up 8 hits.

Former Boston Red Sox Gabe Kapler earned the base on balls with the bases loaded to give the Tampa Bay Rays the lead in the 1st inning.

The inning would get worse as CC Sabathia would allow four men to touch the plate, but the runs would be unearned due to the error from 1B Mark Teixeira.

Although the runs were unearned CC still didn't look to have his stuff allowing two walks, and two hits in the first inning.

The following inning was started with a one out single from Robinson Cano to move Nick Swisher over to second to give Melky Cabrera a shot to solve Ray's pitcher David Price.

Melky would give New York the power to reach the board with his 68th RBI on a single to center field.

D. Price would settle down to keep the three run lead to get Jose Molina, and Derek Jeter to end the inning.

The game from that point on became a disaster for the Yankees, as they allowed 13 runs to
score.

The Rays got a huge effort out of B.J. Upton who blasted his 11th HR of the season in the bottom of the 4th.

B.J. was 5 for 5 with 6 RBI, and hit for the cycle in the Ray's win over New York.

CC would go on to lose the game to give him a record of 19-8 with a 3.37 ERA to end his first regular season in pinstripes.

The Bronx Bombers got one positive note when Juan Miranda hit his first major league HR a bomb to right field.

His HR tied the mark for the most home runs by a Yankee team in a season for the franchise record with 242.

The Yankees will come back for another game against the Tampa Bay Rays tomorrow night at 7:08 pm.

The Rays will start Jeff Niemann who come into his final start of the year with a 12-6 record with a 3.94 ERA as he will battle left hander Andy Pettitte.

A. Pettitte brings a 14-7 record with a 4.11 ERA, and looks to add onto his legacy.

The Yankees have two games left until their start their hunt for a 27th World Series victory.
