Clueless Joe Blows Game 3 With Bad Moves

The team got some clutch outings out of their pen, but manager Joe Girardi showed signs of being totally clueless out there.

As good as the bullpen was Yankees starting pitcher Andy Pettitte worked 6 1\3 solid innings allowing three runs on seven hits.

Andy did not earn a decision, but you have to be pleased with how he has pitched.

The closer Mariano Rivera was outstanding, and he has just been automatic his whole career.

David Robertson got some key outs, but was robbed of his chance to shine.

D. Robertson got two straight outs to begin the inning, and lifted him for Alfredo Aceves to face Angels Howie Kendrick.

Howie Kendrick is a decent player, but come on he is not the type of hitter you need to panic over.

David Robertson has been lights out this year, and that move would come back to haunt the team as Alfredo Aceves gave up a single followed by an RBI double to lose the game.

Alfredo Aceves is a good pitcher, but he has not proved to be as valuable as D. Robertson, and the move made absolutely no sense.

Most people are only talking about that move well there was a lack of managing earlier in the game when the team needed to manufacture runs.

Robinson Cano got up twice in a row with runners on first and second nobody out, and did not bunt either time.

I understand Nick Swisher couldn't hit the side of a barn last night, but you leave your hitter in a better situation with second and third one out than runners at the corners or possible having R. Cano hit in a double play.

All season Joe Girardi played scrappy ball with this team, so why change what has gotten this team this far?

I know this team had 244 home runs during the regular season, but they won a lot of games by doing the little things.

There was some good news in the game for New York if you want to take some positives from a disappointing loss.

The captain Derek Jeter, and Alex Rodriguez continued to be as clutch as it gets by homering in two straight games.

SS Derek Jeter is now 3rd on the all time post season home run list, as he added onto his legacy with his 20th career HR in the playoffs.

This is the time of year that Derek waits for, and after all this time he is still the man.

3B Alex Rodriguez crushed his 4th home run in the 2009 playoffs, and showed some incredible power knocking a 3-1 pitch 431 feet to left.

Alex has been red hot when it comes to big hits despite being 3 for 12 in this Series.

The two superstars are in need of someone else to step up in this Series, the team did get solo HR's from Jorge Posada along with Johnny Damon, but are not hitting with runners in scoring position.

A couple of those home runs come with men on base then the game would have turned out a lot different for New York, and they would have been able to score more runs.

Overall at the end of the game you have to be happy with the play of New York this October, but the lack of consistency throughout the lineup can hurt the team as they go deeper into their hunt for glory.

Tonight they will run into Angels starter lefty Scott Kazmir, and will have a lot of ideas to toss around.

Melky Cabrera has been ice cold along with Nick Swisher, could Brett Gardner possibly get more playing time?

With Jorge Posada swinging a hot bat after yesterday's game it would be vital if 1B Mark Teixeira can come around tonight.

Mark is 3 for 25 this post season with one of his hits being a walk off HR in game two of the ALDS.

Tex is having a brutal start to the ALCS going 1 for 13 without an RBI, but only struck out once.

The good thing is he is making contact with the ball, and in my opinion is on the verge of breaking out.

Once M. Teixeira gets it going to should make Alex Rodriguez that much more dominate as he and Derek Jeter have carried the offense for the entire post season up to this point.
