John had pin point control in last night's game when he was able to dominate the threat of Boston's powerful lineup.

He went up against a tough lander in Red Sox pitcher John Lester, who had some rough luck getting the loss.

J. Lester gave manager Terry Francona quality innings, after working 6 innings allowing 3 runs
on 4 hits, but his team couldn't get the big hits.

Boston Red Sox Manager Terry Francona has to be upset after watchings his team give no offense in key spots during the game.

Boston has a very good lineup, and the fact that the middle part of their order produced nothing has to be a disappointment.

Injuries have really hurt their team, and their first game against the Los Angeles Angels was a fine example.

When you enter a playoff Series you know that there is a large amount of reliance that falls onto the shoulders of David Ortiz.

D. Ortiz was the designated hitter last night, but looked like he was not the same slugger we saw in previous years.

David had no hits in 4 trips to the plate, and struck out 3 times.

Although Mike had a decent season you know that after this body has to be taken a toll as he nears October 9th.

You go through the order, and Kevin Youkilis is usually a very clutch player in many situations.

Kevin could get anything together going 0 for 4 with one strikeout, and couldn't find his stroke.

The Los Angeles Angels had no problems with their offense putting up 5 runs with 1 HR, 2 doubles, and a 2 out RBI.

It was a 3 run blast to put the Halos on top to build their momentum.

The offense did not stop there, in the 7th inning they tacked on 2 more runs to take a 5 run lead.

Kendry Morales provided the Angels with his first career playoff RBI to put the final nail in the coffin to take game one with 2 out in the inning.

The halos would go on to win the game with ease by the score of 5-0, looking on to game two tonight at 9:37 pm eastern time.
