Yankees\Angels Matchups

Torii Hunter and Alex Rodriguez stand at the top of the two best lineups in the American League.

Both of these players should make a huge impact during the 2009 ALCS.

Catchers

Jorge Posada- .285 avg, 22 HR, 81 RBI

Mike Napoli- .272 avg, 20 HR, 66 RBI

Advantage- Yankees... Jorge is a longtime Yankee, and has been one of the best offensive catchers during his MLB service.

First Basemen

Mark Teixeira- .292 avg, 39 HR, 122 RBI

Kendry Morales- .306 avg, 34, 108 RBI

Advantage- Yankees... Although Kendry Morales has shown signs being a monsterous hitter you have to look Mark Teixeira's experience.

Mark could possibly end up being the 2009 American League's most valuable player after being tied in the AL for home runs. Tex also has the best glove since Don Mattingly.

Second Basemen

Robinson Cano- .320 avg, 25 HR, 85 RBI

Howie Kendrick- .291 avg, 10, 61 RBI

Advantage- Yankees... Robinson Cano is coming off the best season of his career and doesn't look to be slowing down.

Shortstops

Derek Jeter- 334 avg, 18 HR, 66 RBI

Eric Aybar- .312, 5 HR, 58 RBI

Advantage- Yankees... I would never pick anyone over Derek Jeter especially when he is in the post season.

Third Basemen

Alex Rodriguez- .285 avg, 30 HR, 100 RBI

Chone Figgins- .298 avg, 5 HR, 54 RBI

Advantage- Yankees... Alex Rodriguez is coming off the best post season series of his career in the 3 game sweep over the Minnesota Twins.

A. Rodriguez was 5 for 11 in that series with 2 huge HR's driving in 6 runs to lead the team.

Left Fielders

Johnny Damon- .282 avg, 24 HR, 82 RBI

Juan Rivera .287 avg, 25 HR, 88 RBI

Advantage- Angels... Juan Rivera has turned himself into a great all around outfielder, and is a valuable part of the halos lineup. Johnny Damon on the other hand has been on the decline.

Still you can't overlook how clutch J.Damon is with his bat, but hopefully his defense willnot be exposed in this upcoming battle.

Center Fielders

Melky Cabrera- .274 avg, 13 HR, 68 RBI

Torii Hunter- .299 avg, 22 HR, 90 RBI

Advantage- Angels... As much as Melky is a gamer all around he is not in Torii Hunter's league.

Right Fielders

Nick Swisher- .249 avg, 29 HR, 82 RBI

Bobby Abreu- 293 avg, 15 HR, 103 RBI

advantage- Angels... Bobby Abreu is just so much of a better hitter than swish so he would be the obvious choice.

Nick Swisher is still a warrior on the field and someone to look out for.

Designated Hitters

Hideki Matsui- .274 avg, 28 HR, 90 RBI

Vladimir Guerrero- .295 avg, 15 HR, 50 RBI {only played in 100 games due to injuries}

Advantage- Yankees... Although Vlad is a power threat, Hideki might be the best DH in Baseball, and thrives under the October lights.
