Both pitchers kept the hitters off balanced throughout the game.
Brett Gardner brings a lot of speed to the team, it has been amazing to watch how much he has helped the team lately.
He hustles on every play to put pressure on the defense as he did in the top of the 3rd inning.
Brett got an infield single, as he tried to get things going for the rest of the lineup.
Unfortunately Derek Jeter grounded out in an inning ending double play.
Do not worry Derek will be ready for the playoffs, that is when his season will start.
As good as D. Jeter has been this regular season, expect him to be even better come October.
The Yankee captain swiped his 28th base of the season during the game.
So far A.J. Burnett looked to be on early on in the game allowing no runs through the first three innings.
During the 3rd inning he was able to get a big strikeout on Angels right fielder Bobby Abreu with a runner on second one out.
A.J. went right after Torrie Hunter, and got the last out of the inning with a snag by B. Gardner in center.
Angels starter Scott Kazmir was dominating the Bronx Bombers up to this point only allowing one hit.
S. Kazmir proceeded to challenge Mark Teixeira on a 1-2 fastball, but was burned as Tex bombed his 43rd double of the season to right field.
Hideki Matsui the #4 hitter of the game due to Alex Rodriguez getting the day off to rest, came up with a chance to put New York on the board.
Godzilla drew the base on balls to make these interesting as the game looked to be slipping away from S. Kazmir.
Yankees right fielder Shelly Duncan looked to be having a rough game at the plate, but was taking good swings.
Those good swings eventually paid off as S. Duncan roped a line drive base hit to left field, but Mark Teixeira was gunned at the plate to keep it at a 0-0 game.
H. Matsui would advance to third on the play, as Shelly moved up to second to give Robinson Cano a two out opportunity.
R. Cano came through on a two run single, and showed great base running advancing to second on the throw.Cano drove in his 78th, and 79th RBI of the season on the two out single to give the Yankees a 2-0 lead.

Melky Cabrera followed with an RBI double to give the Yankees all the offense they would need.
Scott Kazmir threw a quality game going 6 innings allowing the 3 runs in the 3rd picking up his 9th loss of the year.
A.J. Burnett threw a great game, and was working the corners giving New York a chance to win.
Jose Molina calls a great game behind the dish, and does such a good job as a backup.
It is funny how majority of the time A.J. Burnett is lights out when he doesn't have to pitch to Jorge Posada.
I am not knocking J. Posada to be honest his shoulder has been coming around, and he has been throwing more runners out lately.
A.J. Burnett would end up pitching 5 2\3 innings allowing only 2 runs while striking out 11 in the game.
A.J. has a lot of chemistry with Jose Molina, and I say why mess with a good thing?
Burnett would win his 12th game of the season after turning the ball over to the greatest closer in the game Mariano Rivera.
With a one run lead Moe came in, and was incredible as he struck out two in the 9th to give him his 42rd save this year.
I noticed former Yankee Bobby Abreu is closing out on a solid season for the Angels at the age of 35.
B. Abreu is hitting .293 with 13 home runs, and knocked in his 98th RBI of the season in yesterday's ball game.
There is not a lot of bad things you could ever say about Bobby as he provided very much offensive production for the Yankees.
The Yankees rebounded after they let him go to LA signing Nick Swisher during the off season.
N. Swisher has 27 home runs, and has been one of the most productive players in the lineup.
The Yankees were given the return of Ian Kennedy the youngster allowed no runs in his one inning to hold the one run lead.
I just know that this man will be a good arm to have in the future, He has just had some rough luck.
I. Kennedy is still young enough to turn his major league career around, and show the fans what he can do.
Get ready for the showdown on Friday as the Bronx Bombers will take on the Boston Red Sox after they return home.
The new state of the art Yankee Stadium will host Friday's game at 7:05 pm eastern time, as the crafty lefty John Lester will pitch for the Red Sox.
J. Lester will enter the game 14-7 on the year with a 3.33 ERA, and will face Joba Chamberlain
J. Chamberlain will try to bounce back from recent troubles, as he comes in 8-6 with a 4.72 ERA.
Look for the rivalry to kick off some tension on Friday as the Yankees remain 6 games in front of Boston for the American League East Division.
I am expecting some beef between the two teams regarding the bean ball situation, look for fireworks in this series.
One name to really look out for will be Alex Rodriguez, and how he could handle a playoff type atmosphere against Boston.
Arod has gotten a lot of big hits this year, and I expect many more down the stretch continued through the postseason.
