Eli Manning started off his opening game by completing a big pass on his first 3rd down of the season.
E. Manning is tough when he has to be, and you can always count on him when the pressure is on.
Brandon Jacobs left the Giants stranded on 4th and inches to give up a major scoring opportunity.
For a player as big as Jacobs he has to be able to get those first downs, and there is no excuse for why he couldn't make it.
Brandon is a force in the running game, and has to play that way when the game is on the line.
The Giants came back with tenacious defense, and forced the Redskins to a 3 and out to give the ball back to the New York offensive squad.
Going into the drive Eli Manning was 8 for his first 10 throwing for 76 yards averaging 7.6 yards a pass.
After two run plays failed to produce anything, E. Manning was able to thread the needle on third down for another big completion to keep the drive going.
Eli's next pass would be a beautiful one, but would be dropped a pass. The drive looked to be over as the Giants were left to 3rd down with 10 yards to go.
E. Manning would end up coming through on another 3rd down this time throwing his first touchdown pass of the new season to Mario Manningham.
The touchdown pass was a 30 yard pass, and the 99th touchdown pass of Eli Manning's career.
It was exciting to watch E. Manning just take control of his offense as his team was able to put up 17 points in the first half.
The next offensive drive was another impressive one for Manning as he came out firing again, and this time got more from his team's running game with Ahmad Bradshaw.
A. Bradshaw is an incredible player with phenomenal speed. You watch the way he tears up the field with his moves, and you have to be in amazement of how good he can be.
This 3rd down would result in a fumble as E. Manning was dragged by his face mask, but nothing was called. It seemed like the referees wanted to let the illegal stuff go today.
E. Manning would at this point in the game be 5 for 5 on third down conversions throwing for 89 yards with a touchdown, and a fumble.
After being hurt all of last season welcome back Osi Umenyiora as he scored a touchdown on a fumble recovery returning it for 37 yards to open the game up for the Giants.
The Washington Redskins came back with a determined drive to make their way down the field to get on the board.
Redskins quarterback Jason Campbell finally showed what he could do as he made his attempt to break through the aggressive Giant defense.
Washington caught the Giants off guard, and would have a fake field goal attempt ran in for a touchdown to bring the game to 17-6 heading into halftime.
It was a great play for the Redskins who found a way to work themselves into the game with 30 minutes and 25 seconds of football left.
The first half was a great one for Giants quarterback Eli Manning who was 12 for 16 throwing for 138 yards, and a touchdown averaging 8.6 years per pass.
The 2nd half would start off quiet as both teams were held to no points throughout the 3rd quarter.
The New York Giants continued their abuse of Redskins quarterback Jason Campbell applying nonstop pressure all game long.
The Washington defense came through with a big play picking a pass intended for Steve Smith from the right arm of E. Manning.
The G-men were unfazed from the E. Manning interception as they were able to shut down Jason Campell holding the Skins to a field goal to decrease the New York lead to 17-10.
The next drive was started from a great pass from Manning then Ahmad Bradshaw exploded with two straight runs that got the Giants back into their rhythm on offense.
Problems flared up when Eli was unable to manage the clock well drawing a delay of game penalty, and almost doing it again the very next play.
This is a problem that occurs entirely too much for a player like E. Manning he is the highest paid player in the NFL, and he still makes rookie mistakes.
As good as he is a lot of his success has something to do with how good his offensive line is.
The drive would be saved from a 45 yard field goal from Lawrence Tynes nailing his 2nd field goal of the game to put the Giants up 20-10.
E. Manning would bounce back his next drive as Steve Smith made a brilliant catch on a 3rd down conversion to bring the Giants down the field again.
Eli was really throwing the ball well this drive as he had Domonik Hixon down field right before the end zone, but Hixon dropped the ball drawing the pass interference call.
New York tight end Kevin Boss would break out with a 27 yard catch to bring the G-men closer to stretching the lead.
The Giants ended up with another field goal tacking on the points, and running down the clock as the lead was opened up to 23-10. Lawrence Tynes was 3 for 3 on field goal attempts for the game.
If you were to break down the Giants success all around most of it is because of their defense. They seem to be able to shut down any offense that opposes them.
People have over time criticized Eli heavily but he just goes on his way to being a superstar leading in a quiet fashion.
The Washington Redskins played a gritty game for a team that was highly over matched.
Ahmad Bradshaw had some big runs that helped spread around the offensive attack. Bradshaw was involved all game as he ran for 60 yards on 12 attempts averaging 5 yards per carry.
Brandon Jacobs was held quiet as he only ran for 46 yards on 16 carries averaging a disappointing 2.9 yards per carry.
Jacobs is better than what he showed during the first game of the season as he will be a valuable asset all season.
Overall it was a good first game for the New York Giants as Eli Manning was 20-29 on the day throwing one interception, one touchdown pass reaching 256 yards.
E. Manning was able to pick at the Washington defense throwing to seven different targets for the game.
Eli looked to be in control majority of the game he hit a point where he struggled, but was able to send the Giants into week two 1-0 for the season.
