CC Sabathia pitched very well in the 1st inning the run he allowed was caused by a sac fly on Johnny Damon's weak arm in left field. Brian Roberts started the inning off with a bunt base hit using his speed to get to CC.
Sabathia got Izturis, and threw a great pitch to Nolan Reimold but was burned from an excuse me swing.
Reimold was able to dunk the ball into right field to move Roberts over to third who scored on the sac fly. Sabathia worked himself out of trouble and kept his control. He went 7 innings only allowing the one run in the 1st inning as he won his 16th game of the year.
CC Sabathia has to be in the lead for the American League CY Young award.
The top of the 3rd inning would be a good one for Yankees right fielder Eric Hinske who connected on his 7th home run of the season. Hinske has homered back to back nights in Camden Yards loving his trip to
A standout player for the Orioles has definitely been Nick Markakis. Look at the way his career has developed you see a true all star now.
Markakis is 25 years of age, and he is only improving day after day. Any team has to be looking out for an outfielder of his caliber.
If you compare the money he makes to other outfielders it is shocking. Take a player like Nick Swisher who has been playing at the top of his game is pulling down 5 million this season.
I have mentioned Swisher's salary before, and I am not picking on him I just use players that I know more about to make a point.
Nick Markakis is bringing down 3.3 million dollars this season, and has been a much more efficient player than a player who is 3 years older. Swisher has more power but as far as overall ability you have to give the upper hand to Markakis.
Nick Markakis will fall onto a list of players who need to be advertised more to get their recognition. At this point you have to look for a good team to take the time realize how good he is, and what he can bring to a team.
Markakis has 682 career base hits by looking at the stats off of MLB.com. If you think about it the man is currently in his 4th season, and is more than half way to the 1,000 hit mark.

If the Orioles are going to continue to not make an effort to bring in big players then they have to be fair to Markakis, and let him go to a team that has a chance to win.
Alex Rodriguez made the transition to
Arod was a player that was held back from teams that failed to produce results. Alex has been a negative in the playoffs, but at least now he is where a player like him belongs.
Speaking of Alex Rodriguez he has been taking some great swings at the plate lately. The base hits have been there with the power drought as he has been driving in runs which remain the key in his game this season.
Alex is playing more like the five tool player he is known to be. The thing about Arod his power game it will come, and it when does he is almost unstoppable.
Rodriguez when he is feeling 100 percent will go the other way more if you notice this season all of his power has been to the left side. What always made Alex such a good power hitter was his ability to hit the ball over any part of the fence.
The hip surgery has limited him, but Arod has found a way to load up with jaw dropping homers in the clutch.
Alex came through tonight picking up a big 2 run RBI single to center field in the top of the 7th inning.
Alex managed to drive it back up the middle showing he has been staying on the baseball; it is a matter of time before he starts to hit the ball with more power the opposite way.
Rodriguez was not finished as he got up with the based loaded in the top of the 9th inning, and delivered with another 2 run single as he drove a line drive to left field.
What makes Alex is his ability to also make things happen on the base paths. After a base running blunder earlier in the game Rodriguez tagged up on a pop out to left, and hustled all the way to put himself in scoring position with less than two outs.
Rodriguez could possibly wind up with 100 RBI if he goes on a serious tear. You may not expect that but Arod in April of 2007 had 34 RBI.
As of now Alex has 75 RBI with 28 games left in the season. Rodriguez will more than likely fall short of 100 RBI this season missing 28 games on the season after off season hip surgery.
Melky Cabrera who was 2 for 5 on the night drove Rodriguez in for his first RBI in the game to open up the game.
Jose Molina capped the game off with a 2 out RBI single to stretch the lead by 6 runs.
The New York Yankees have been getting some timely hitting late in the game this series crushing the Orioles.
Phil Hughes who finished off the 8th inning in a tight jam had an easy 9th inning as he pitched a 123 9th inning. The Yanks swept the Orioles by winning 10-2 beating them for the 12th straight time this season.
