Arod On Fire In Yanks Win Over Red Sox

Alex Rodriguez showed in last night's game that he is ready for the playoffs, dominating one of the best pitchers in the game Jon Lester.

Alex now has a .288 batting average, and for all the time he has missed put up a phenomenal season so far.

A. Rodriguez is in a league of his own when he is performing at his best, and it is amazing to watch how gifted the man is.

After all of these years I am still impressed when I watch him play, after last night I have to say he is just incredible.

I have never seen a player recover from major surgery the way he has, if you think about it take away the numbers Alex could be the MVP if you really thought about it.

Since Arod's return the Yankees have been the best team in Baseball so I don't understand why the award must always come down to numbers.

I understand Alex has won the MVP before at times where he did not help his team make the playoffs as much as other players.

I know that if you look at Alex he has always been a numbers guy, but this is the best all around season he has ever had.

He looks so comfortable at the plate in late game situations, and I think it is only going to carry on into October.

The Yankees were given very much needed offense against the Boston Red Sox, with the lineup going 7-21 with runners in scoring position.

Yankees second baseman Robinson Cano drilled his 47th double of the season, as he remains two hits shy of 200 for the season.

R. Cano has worked hard to get to where he wants to be, and has put up the best numbers of his career.

Robby Cano is hitting a nice .321 with 23 HR's 79 RBI, and is one run short of scoring 100 for the season on the bases.

Catcher Jorge Posada was 2 for 4 with 2 RBI he has been a great hitter slugging his way to a .286 average. Jorge is a valuable player, and will give you a consistent power threat.

J. Posada has 81 RBI, and like Alex Rodriguez also missed a good amount of time this season with an injury.

Hideki Matsui is still on a roll after going 2 for 3 last night going into today's game with 28 HR's, and 88 RBI.

They were also 7 for 7 on stolen base attempts with Arod leading with 3 stolen bases.

The Yankees fans got to see Derek Jeter swipe his 30th stolen base of the season after he had taken his 2nd of the game..

Jon Lester had a rough night for the Red Sox, as he surrendered 5 runs, and had to leave the game with an injury after pitching 2 1\3 innings.

J. Lester was hit on the right knee from a line drive shot off the bat off Melky Cabrera in the bottom of the 3rd after the Yankees had rallied.

You have to admire the courage of J. Lester, and hope that he will be alright no matter what team you are cheering for.

Jon Lester is now 14-8 after receiving the lost, but if he can bounce back from the injury he will be difficult to solve come post season.

One major fact from the game was the impressive outing out of Joba Chamberlain.

Joba picked up the win to improve his record to 9-6 after pitching 6 innings only allowing 3 runs, to keep New York in the game.

J. Chamberlain has a lot of talent, and if he pitches the way he did last night could be one of the best starters in the game.

The only problem is that he will throw a lot of pitches, because in the end he will always go back to being a strikeout pitcher.

Over time I am sure he will find a way to become a great starter, but right now could you imagine how good the bullpen would be with him and Phil Hughes?

The New York Yankees will look to take on the Boston Red Sox again today for a 4:05 pm eastern time start at the new Yankee Stadium.

This is shaping up to be a game to watch as the Red Sox will send Daisuke Matzusaka to the mound.

Daisuke has a 3-5 record with a brutal 6.80 ERA, but has the ability to be a big game pitcher at any time.

The young 29 year old has a variety of ways to get you out, and will look to do so in the Bronx this afternoon.

I wouldn't get too ahead of myself if I were Boston's manager Terry Francona as they will run into the Yankees own CC Sabathia.

CC has a 18-7 record with a 3.31 ERA, and will be looking to add onto his campaign for the cy young award.

Alex Rodriguez is coming off a remarkable game last night, and will be looking to have another one.

Alex is 7 RBI away from 100 for the year, and is also on his quest for another 30 HR season.
