Griffey Jr Is King For One More Day

Ken Griffey Jr would be his old self for one more game as he went 2 for 3 with 4 RBI.

It was good to see the legend Ken Griffey Jr hit his 627th career HR in yesterday's blowout win over the New York Yankees.

It has been sad to watch the decline of his career, but anytime he does anything it reminds you of the past. I remember every morning I would turn on ESPN, and hear about Griffey Jr dominating almost every game that he played.

The 39 year old could be playing in his final season for major league baseball, as he is projected to retire at the end of the season.

As much as you want to hold on to idea of having this man on your team, the best thing to do is to remember what he was in the past.

Remember the fact that this man has never been in the middle of steroid talks, and has been a true professional.

The Yankees were plagued from a terrible game out of starter Joba Chamberlain. J. Chamberlain went only 3 innings allowing 7 runs on 6 hits raising his 2009 ERA to 4.72.

Joba is not a starter, it is simple the man throws way too many pitches to ever last through majority of a game.

I have no idea why the Yankees are persistent on Jorge Posada catching Joba Chamberlain every time that he pitches, and I am not making excuses for Joba.

J. Posada has that thing about him where he likes to call his own game, but some pitchers like to throw what they want to throw.

The first game Jorge returns from the suspension, and he has to catch J. Chamberlain. The times I have really seen Joba pitch well were when he was throwing to backup catcher Jose Molina.

Same thing when it comes to A.J. Burnett just let Molina catch if there is a problem, you have plenty of offense in that lineup to go around.

One good note from the game Mark Teixeira is now hitting .292 after putting up a three hit game. Tex is looking to go on a serious tear as he did earlier in the season.

The New York Yankees will take on the Los Angeles Angels tonight for a 10:05 pm eastern time start as they continue their west coast trip.

Joe Saunders of the Angels will get the start coming in with a 13-7 record with an ERA of 4-75.

The Yankees also send a lefty to the mound the 37 year old veteran Andy Pettitte who will look to add onto his 13-6 record, and his 4.14 ERA.

Andy is one of the best pitchers in franchise history for New York coming into tonight's game with a career record of 228 wins, and 133 losses posting a 3.90 ERA.

A. Pettitte has given the fans a lot to cheer about over the years, as he was a big part of four world championships, and will be a name to keep an eye on.
