The Bronx Bombers were anything but that as they failed to come through late in the game.
Angels starter Joe Saunders won his 14th game of the season as he kept the Yankees of guard, working 8 1\3 innings only allowing 2 solo HR's.
LA would bring in newcomer Brian Fuentes in the 9th to pick up his 44th save of the year.
Andy Pettitte could only look on after pitching a solid game going 6 innings allowing 3 runs on 5 hits. This picture belongs to ESPN.com
Yankees starter Andy Pettitte although pitching a quality game, picked up the loss to give him a record of 13-7.
A. Pettitte has been one of the most consistent pitchers in the New York rotation with the recent troubles of A.J. Burnett, and Joba Chamberlain.
If you look at the recent play of the Yankees they have lost 4 out of their last 6 games. You have to hope that this isn't a preview of things to come for the 2009 playoffs.
The Yankees need A.J. Burnett, and Joba Chamberlain to get it together being more consistent.
It was a tough night for New York bats, as they were only able to put up 2 solo HR's in the game.
One of the very few bright spots in the game was when Alex Rodriguez smacked his 26th home run of the season in the top of the 7th inning.
Arod tosses his bat after he hung with a curveball belting it over the left field wall to pull within two.A.Rodriguez was two for four in the game, and his HR gave him his 86th RBI of the season.

Hideki Matsui hit his 27th home run of the 09 campaign in the 8th inning to split the lead in half, but it wouldn't matter as the Yankees lost 5-2.
All New York Yankee fans can do is look to tonight's game at 10:05 pm eastern time where the Yankees will send Chad Guadin to the mound against Erwin Santana.
Erwin Santana has not given the Angels what they expect out of him this year with a 7-8 record posting a ERA over 5.
The Yankees however have been getting more than what they expect out of their starter tonight in C. Guadin.
Chad has a 5-10 record, but has brought his ERA down since his arrival to the Bronx which now stands at 4.81. He has only allowed 4 runs in his last 11 and 2\3 innings.
Look for the Yankes to clinch their playoff birth tonight, and get back on track as they search for their 96th win.
